Thank you to all who participated in the 2017 Firehawk Dash!
Here’s a photographic view from last years event, thanks to Erik Bellamy, a Central dad and local photographer for the pictures.
In keeping with our school’s IB mission, the PTO will once again team up with the local non-profit group Think Humanity to donate a portion of the proceeds to an international project. Ten percent of this year’s proceeds will go toward helping build a well in a village near our sister school in Uganda, Moonlight Nursery and Primary School. To learn more, read about Think Humanity’s Clean Water Projects.
Did you know that the majority of the PTO’s annual operating budget is generated by the Firehawk Dash, an annual jog-a-thon held in the fall? The funds raised by this important event are used to help support our students and teachers throughout the year. Proceeds help pay for important teacher training, classroom supplies, field trips, guest speakers, and new equipment that fall beyond the district’s budgetary reach. In recent years, Firehawk funds helped purchase 30 new Google chromebooks for our classrooms and a new public address system for the cafeteria, as well as pay for valuable enrichment training for teachers.
